From the minutes of the Town of Shutesbury Annual Town Meeting, February 14, 1927 —
Article 20: Voted as follows: Resolved:
that we the voters of the Town of Shutesbury in town meeting assembled extend to our neighbors in the Swift River Valley our heartfelt sympathy for them in their compulsory abandonment of their homes because of the proposed flooding of their beautiful valley; that we extend to any of them who wish a hearty invitation to establish new homes in our community and, further, be it Resolved: that the Town Clerk be instructed to send a copy of these resolutions to the Chairman of the Swift River Valley protection Committee and the Clerks of the towns of Enfield, Dana, Greenwich, Prescott and New Salem.
