Web Communications Committee

It is the responsibility of the Web Communications Committee to provide the public with up-to-date information about Shutesbury and its governance.  To that end, the Committee maintains an official Town website and manages a Town Announcements subscription list for email distribution of news from Town officials, but those are not the Town’s only official means of communication with Shutesbury residents.

  • Town news and updates are posted on the Home page of the official Town website (www.shutesbury.org). Click on any of the menus/tabs for a list of pages with detailed information on committees, departments, meetings, services, Town governance, and Town officials, as well as an array of How-to guides for municipal participation.

  • Scheduled meetings of Town committees, boards, and commissions are posted on the Town Calendar and MyTownGovernment, providing date/time, agenda, and zoom link (if needed).

    • To view the recording of a particular committee’s (virtual) meeting, go to Shutesbury’s YouTube channel, enter the meeting date (m/d/yy) in the search field, and select your meeting of interest from the search results.

    • To read the minutes of a particular committee meeting, go to the Town Website and click on the name listed on the Committees & Boards menu.  Minutes are listed by date at the righthand bottom of the committee webpage.

    • To receive notices of a committee's future meetings, go to MyTownGovernment, select/click on the committee you want to follow, and click on “Subscribe to Email Alerts For This Board.”  (You will be asked to login with your email and a password.)  When that committee next schedules a meeting, you will be sent an email from “support@mytowngovernment.org” with full meeting information.

  • Town Announcements are emailed by committees, boards, commissions, or departments to give notice of scheduled activities (such as a nature walk, library program, or lunch gathering), to distribute public health information, to serve notice of a public hearing, or to recruit committee membership.

    • Town Announcements come from an official “@shutesbury.org” email address. The subject line is the newsworthy event or topic (no, the email isn't labelled a “Town Announcement”).

    • Town Announcements are sent to subscribers of the Town Announcements List.  To subscribe to Town Announcements, fill out the online form here.

  • Critical messages are sent out through the CodeRED telephone system.  Such calls alert Shutesbury residents to the need for instant attention.

    • CodeRED messages come from caller name “ECN Community.”

    • The CodeRED system includes both emergency messages (such as impending weather conditions) and non-emergency but time-sensitive messages (such as road closures or disruption to the day’s trash collection).

    • CodeRED alerts are called to subscribers of the CodeRED notification system.  To subscribe to the CodeRED notification system, create an account here.
