Thank You from the Selectboard

Thank you to the Boards and Committees, Department Heads and Town Employees and Volunteers

This has been an extraordinary year for our Town. Where would we be without the town’s Broadband Network, Shutesbury, net! The fact the fiber network build out was completed in January, 2020, just before the emergency was declared is a blessing we appreciate everyday. Thank you Broadband Committee and MLP members.

We had to adapt the town’s operation to comply with restrictions imposed because of the Covid 19 pandemic. Suddenly, in early March, all town business had to be done remotely and access to Town Hall became severely restricted. Use of Town Hall had to be limited with protocols using masks, disinfects, and social distancing in order to keep people safe.

Town Meeting loomed in the Spring and it took many people to figure out how to create a safe way for our community to gather for the important work of passing the Town Budget and Warrants. It worked!

The School had to use remote learning so the school community had to figure out how to make this model work for the staff as well as the students and families. Hybrid learning has recently begun, meaning more change and challenges.

Throughout he Board of Health has been central in making sure we have up to date information needed to keep each other healthy and safe. They have worked extremely hard to ensure that all departments are able to make decisions relating to the Covid virus pandemic that are informed and safe. Working closely with our Town Administrator, Library, Fire, Police, Highway and School our town has been able to function smoothly and safely during this difficult time.

The Selectboard wants to recognize the increased workload the Covid-19 pandemic has created for all those who work for our town, volunteers and employees. As the end of 2020 approaches, we want to thank you all and join you in looking forward to a healthy, safe 2021.

Sincerely, Selectboard
