BRIGHT WATER BOG WALK
On Saturday, October 19, Graeme and Helen Ann Sephton led an exploration of Bright Water Bog (previously known as Ames Pond), Kestrel Land Trust’s seventh and largest nature retreat located off Wendell Road.
The walk was very popular and we have decided to offer subsequent walks there to enjoy the retreat at different times of the year. Look for the next one in the Spring.
KNITTING
The Recreation Committee plans to sponsor drop-in knitting that will include instruction for those who want to learn to knit or need help with a project as well as an opportunity for knitters of all abilities to enjoy each other's company.
We hope to start in January.
IMPROV THEATER
The Recreation Committee plans to sponsor an afternoon or evening Improv Theater workshop. Improv is largely unscripted theater and requires nothing more than a desire to have fun!
Keep an eye out for a Town Wide email from the Recreation Committee.
SHOOTSBURY SOCCER CLUB
We are excited to announce the successful introduction of a new program: the Shootsbury Soccer Club! It started on September 29th and ran through November 15th. This fun and casual soccer meet-up was open to children ages 3 to 10 and took place every Sunday from 9-10 AM at the Shutesbury Elementary School.
It was a great success and we plan to start up again in the Spring. This was a fantastic opportunity for children and families to get active, enjoy the outdoors, and meet new friends in our community. Best of all, it is completely free and no registration is required.
We hope to see many of you there in the Spring (details to follow closer to the date). If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at recreation@shutesbury.org.
The Recreation Committee purpose:
The Recreation Committee develops recreational activities designed to build community and enrich the quality of life in Shutesbury. The Committee sponsors and supports recreational experiences and related educational programming for all age groups.
Are you interested in becoming a member of the Recreation Committee?
The Recreation Committee is looking for new members, and would especially benefit from members interested in bringing new ideas about how we can support and add to programs for children and their families. Currently the Recreation Committee sponsors an annual Family Field Day and was a co-sponsor of the kite flying event on the Town Common.
If you're interested, or would like more information, please send an email to Recreation@Shutesbury.org.
