Upcoming Events:
The Night Sky: In May, the Recreation Committee, in collaboration with the Library, offered an evening of star gazing led by Tom Schieding. It was extraordinary - standing in the dark looking up at the stars inspires awe! The response was so positive that we have two additional nights planned:
August 10 is full but you can get on the waiting list.
August 17 still has several openings.
If you are interested, please send an email to Recreation@Shutesbury.org including your name, the date(s), and how many in your group.
TBD. In the early Spring, the Recreation Committee in collaboration with the Open Space Committee sponsored a walk at Bright Water Bog (previously known as Ames Pond) led by Graeme Sephton. Graeme shared his knowledge about the trails and the history and flora and fauna of the area. The walk was a great success and we plan to have another one in the fall.
Family Field Day: Watch this space for additional information. It will be held after the school year begins but a date has not yet been decided.
The Recreation Committee purpose:
The Recreation Committee develops recreational activities designed to build community and enrich the quality of life in Shutesbury. The Committee sponsors and supports recreational experiences and related educational programming for all age groups.
Are you interested in becoming a member of the Recreation Committee?
The Recreation Committee is looking for new members, and would especially benefit from members interested in bringing new ideas about how we can support and add to programs for children and their families. Currently the Recreation Committee sponsors an annual Family Field Day and was a co-sponsor of the kite flying event on the Town Common.
If you're interested, or would like more information, please send an email to Recreation@Shutesbury.org.
