Brush burning permit

Brush burning permits

Brush-burning permits are available online from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm during the burning season (January 15th through May 1st) on any day that burning is being allowed.

To get a permit, click on the "click here" button.  If burning is not being allowed in the Town of Shutesbury on that day, the website will inform you of this and will not allow you to obtain a permit.

When you submit the application, a record of the permit will go into the system and a copy of the permit will be e-mailed to you at your email address.  Print this permit out and sign it. You should keep it with you while you are conducting your burning.

Permits are good for ONE DAY only and are regulated by Massachusetts General Law.  The hours for burning are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Fires are to be located at least 75 feet from any building and are to be attended at all times by a person 18 years or older.
